Nereid is a small print studio for underwater photographs — the animals that live a few inches from the reef, and the light that finds them.

A typical frame is made at 1:1 magnification on a full-frame camera, often on black sand, often after twenty minutes of not moving. The strobes are there to keep color honest, not to invent it. Backscatter is left in when it belongs to the water.

Prints are archival pigment on Hahnemühle Photo Rag, signed and numbered in an edition of twenty-five. Nothing here is open edition. If a photograph sells through, it is done.

The collection on this site is the working set from the water: pygmy seahorses, clownfish, a goldentail moray in a hole, flatworms, a hermit that looked back. Work is filed by subject. Previews are watermarked. The print is not. More frames will fill each sheet as they earn a place.
